Welcome. My name is Ray W. Rowney, Jr., author of License to Steal. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my book.
I’m using this blog to expand on some of its topics using current day issues, in the hope that together we can stop the declining values in America.
Reality, if not common sense, teaches that we can’t be all things, see all things, do all things. Thus, whether an individual, family, local, state, or federal government entity – we all must make choices! How we set our priorities determines our future well-being. Today, a current challenge is stopping/preventing the spread of the deadly zika virus. Immediate calls for large increases in funding are heard, when we are already running an annual deficit with the national debt at…..
Sadly, it appears that the two most influential nations for good in the world are retreating form the world scene. With the Obama transformation of the US into a land satisfied with being dependent and expecting someone else to do the work, America has withdrawn from its prior leadership role in the world. Now, with Brexit, the British people appear to be following suit, although some immediately had second thoughts. As positive leadership deteriorates, the world stage is left…..
Today, the widening divide between those who favor a return to individual responsibility versus an ever expanding federal government, those who favor a balanced budget with reduced spending versus an ever escalating national debt, those who favor our Constitutional right to bear arms versus gun control laws benefiting only the criminals, etc. appears to be unsolvable with our current political mindsets.
However, an honest review of history will reveal the one solution all sides have agreed upon over the…..
On November 25, 2015 my wife and I both received a 7 page notification of the changes to our monthly Social Security checks (I am 78 and she is 73.) for 2016. It informed us that as there was no increase in the cost of living for 2015 based on the Consumer Price Index (published by the Department of Labor), there will be no changes to our individual Social Security benefit amounts for 2016. However, we were advised that…..
Although Congress submitted the text of the most recent Amendment XXVII to the States as part of the Bill of Rights (ratified December 15, 1791), it was not ratified until approved by Michigan on May 7, 1992. Since it dealt with compensation for members of Congress, it appears that a conflict between money and principles has always plagued we humans. This proposal is put forth as the means to insure that principles and values are never replaced by…..
Tragically, it seems that almost weekly we learn of government irresponsible actions that will have longer-term, devastating reactions for America’s future: 1) Last month the nation’s largest health insurer announced that heavy losses under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) were forcing it to withdraw from most state exchanges. 2) The uncontrolled spending of Puerto Rico caused a massive bankruptcy, with similar conditions facing several of our larger states. 3) Last week President Obama arrived in Hanoi to discuss lifting…..
Today, with the tragic decline in family values, the increase in unwed mothers, children often viewed as a punishment rather than a blessing, the future for many children is bleak at best.
The Bible is quite clear about parental responsibilities (a good man and a good woman as role models) to raise up children in the way they should go. The remedy to fix the current dire, valueless condition now facing America, brought on by 50 plus years of rejecting…..
President Obama’s attempts to endorse/enforce “bathrooms of choice”, against the will of a super majority of all American voters, is the most blatant example of bureaucratic discrimination in our nation’s history. Claiming to protect the rights of the very few who elect to defy nature and our Creator, God, he is defying the very principles of our Republic. Equal protection under the law means that the “law” must be enforced as it was written and intended. It cannot be…..
It is only fitting and proper that the first right set forth in the US Constitution recognizes the supremacy of God, and each citizen’s right to worship our Creator in the fashion each feels most appropriate. Well aware of the shortcomings of the Church of England, the Founders wanted to insure that the God of the Bible, author of the Ten Commandments, would never be restricted to a single church denomination, but would always remain above all for all……
As the day nears to honor those who nurture our young, and lead them in the way they should go, that America’s future may remain bright, I find myself hanging my head in shame for what “political correctness” has done to the role of women in our country.
In the early 1960s, we permitted a foolish court decision to remove prayer and Bible reading from our public schools, making instilling values in our young that much more difficult. Now we…..
