I’m using this blog to expand on some of its topics using current day issues, in the hope that together we can stop the declining values in America.
I was born in 1938, at the eve of the start of WWII (“the war to end all wars”). I was so proud during my public school years to Pledge Allegiance, with hand over heart, to the greatest nation in the world! My favorite movies depicted American war heroes from all walks of life, nationalities, religions, etc. Their common bond was that they were all “Americans”, willingly risking their very lives to share the values that made our country great……
Will we humans never learn from history? WWII was to be the war to end all wars, that the freedoms provided by Christian values prevail over dictators offering only servitude. Yet generation after generation appears doomed by our “human” nature, to continually and painfully relearn that freedom isn’t “free!” Today, the heinous Paris attacks reveal that this generation’s evil forces are an even greater threat to society than Hitler, as crazed individuals are more difficult to detect than an announced…..
If our Nation does not teach/require personal responsibility/a work ethic on the part of each American citizen, the US will self-destruct. Originally, when well-meaning government assistance programs were created, their purpose was to provide “temporary” aid to those suddenly finding themselves in need – until recipients could remedy their temporary circumstances. Today, far too many recipients (encouraged by self-serving politicians) view these government checks as permanent rights, rather than short-term aid to enable them to correct their own current problems……
In my life, the key educational source was the “family”. God created men and women, each with distinct and unique qualities and abilities, to partner in rearing said family. Parents took great pride in raising children to become part of God’s larger family. They each demonstrated their respective roles, and both continually taught the importance of each child developing their own God-given talents and skills.
