Welcome. My name is Ray W. Rowney, Jr., author of License to Steal. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my book.
I’m using this blog to expand on some of its topics using current day issues, in the hope that together we can stop the declining values in America.
Today, the widening divide between those who favor a return to individual responsibility versus an ever expanding federal government, those who favor a balanced budget with reduced spending versus an ever escalating national debt, those who favor our Constitutional right to bear arms versus gun control laws benefiting only the criminals, etc. appears to be unsolvable with our current political mindsets.
However, an honest review of history will reveal the one solution all sides have agreed upon over the years – the only true uniter with bipartisan support.
In 1787, eleven years after the Declaration of Independence, when the Constitutional Convention was hopelessly deadlocked, Ben Franklin urged daily morning prayers which were commenced. Within three months the Constitution was signed: “We the people derived our authority from a source superior to ourselves. And we empowered this Constitution with that Authority.”
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln, who presided over the most deadly divide in our Nation’s history, initiated a National Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer: “Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us, then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
In 1956, the most recent Act of Congress related to the importance of God to our country was passed: “That the Motto of the United States is hereby declared to be IN GOD WE TRUST.”
Today in 2016, after 55 years of politically-correct “anti-God” Court decisions beginning in the early 1960’s, our Nation is now more in need of God’s reconciling healing than ever before. My prayer is that both Democrats and Republicans can still unite on the values of God’s truth, and address our country’s need for permanently reinstating those values as set forth in my 6/7/16 Proposed Amendment XXVIII to the US Constitution.
