Welcome. My name is Ray W. Rowney, Jr., author of License to Steal. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my book.
I’m using this blog to expand on some of its topics using current day issues, in the hope that together we can stop the declining values in America.
While all of us have heard from a parent, or a coach, or a friend, “It’s not about winning, but how we play the game,” today, I fear many do not subscribe to this ethic. I see and hear of more and more examples of “me first” or “What’s in it for me?” Sadly, it appears too many of us humans see the world as revolving around us, rather than we being just small players in a huge worldly…..
In America, we have no one to blame but ourselves for our future destiny. With absolute freedom comes absolute responsibility. We can’t have one without the other. It defies common sense (which today is no longer “common”) that in America we apparently have forgotten that if we want our citizens to act responsibly, we must clearly set forth and teach what is required. All of history confirms that human values are tainted, and only God and His values are…..
President Trump revealed himself to be a man of character and truth when he rejected the Paris Climate Accord, which had received much acclaim throughout the world according to the news media. A so-called Agreement with no penalties for parties who don’t perform, no equal treatment for all participants, and requiring America to provide huge sums of money with no direct benefit, should be rejected outright as simply a political redistribution of wealth. I pray that this uncommon demonstration…..
Since various church denominations are each governed by humans with their own versions of the influence and importance of God, it is entirely proper that the doctrine of separation of “church” and state evolved. Society should not be governed by a human church doctrine, but by what is most beneficial to all the people. Sadly, however, when political correctness replaces truth and justice, it is obvious that human judgment alone is incapable of honest, truthful, unbiased policies over the…..
In this day and age of rapidly advancing technologies, with so many pushing buttons on pocket devices for instant responses, one might believe we have a highly complex society. Actually, I believe it has never been more important to return to the simple basics: cause and effect. Every action has a resultant reaction. In survey after survey, the economy and jobs are always ranked highly. However, sadly I hear very little about the importance of preparing the young to…..
I display my age and frustration as I argue with my TV set’s daily presentation of the major news issues. Can we no longer learn from history and rise above political correctness? As Dragnet’s Joe Friday would always say, “Just the facts, Ma’am.” I am now questioning whether today’s media can even identify the “facts”. Has party politics so clouded minds, that a search for truth and justice is no longer our objective? Is our objective no longer to…..
While debates rage on over government involvement in health care issues, I have yet to hear any responsible discussion on the role of individual responsibility in matters related to the development of productive future Americans. I have always believed the valued promise of America to all inhabitants was a never-ending “land of opportunity”. Where we each could grow our individual talents and skills to the maximum, reaping the monetary rewards and fame so “earned”. Obviously, the key to this great…..
Hopefully, we’ve learned from the prior Administration’s last 8 years of “leading from behind” that such attitudes simply yield what everyone else has. During this time, the world was deprived of the leadership that places truth and justice above human greed and selfishness. Now, with President Trump’s firm, no-nonsense attitude that standing for the right can never be wrong, not only America but the world can renew hope for a better future for all. However, the right leadership is only…..
My Mother had an embroidered saying which I still hang in front of my desk: “Old age is not for sissies!” At 79 and now barely able to walk, I use two canes and move at a snail’s pace, but I start each day with this encouragement. I am also comforted by a pop tune from my younger days, “I didn’t promise you a rose garden!” For me, the challenge of old age is simply a question of mind…..
The noble experiment of a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, rather than being governed by a king or monarch who inherited or usurped such powers, staked its future on the “rule by law”, rather than “rule by birth” or “rule by might”. For America’s first 150 years, “Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Law” were used to define the law and train persons therein throughout America. Blackstone taught that common law evolved from God, whose…..
