Welcome. My name is Ray W. Rowney, Jr., author of License to Steal. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my book.
I’m using this blog to expand on some of its topics using current day issues, in the hope that together we can stop the declining values in America.
How refreshing and encouraging that the airport in Syria, responsible for the planes which dumped chemical weapons, was promptly rendered useless by a measured, aggressive response from President Trump. I believe this action signals a US return to the world scene led by our new, common sense President. Bullies respond to force not rhetoric. However, it was appropriate that the force demonstrated was limited so as not to encourage a world war, but to clearly send the message that…..
Today, I believe far too many Americans take our educational system for granted, and are too prone to take a “hands-off” approach. They believe schools are to teach “reading, writing, and arithmetic” and not permit God and His values to be discussed or promoted. One need only review the front pages of newspapers, in cities throughout our country, to see ample evidence of the results of drifting from the visions of our God-based founders. Too many parents, some of…..
As disappointing as last week’s failure to attempt to fix the many shortcomings of Obamacare was, it will be even more discouraging if Congress chooses to simply “move on” rather than work even harder to address issues which affect or will affect millions of Americans. Encouraging and rewarding government dependency, rather than building character and individual responsibility, will bring an end to the America of our Founders, which enjoyed unprecedented success for its first 200 years. Sadly, human nature…..
Sadly, I believe too many churches and pastors today are masking the seriousness of America’s drifting from obedience to God. The very strength of God’s guidance is now used to avoid our individual and group responsibilities to share and promote His Word. “God will protect His people” has replaced “We the people must honor God and do His work.” Sitting in church on Sunday, with like-minded would-be Christians, is too often viewed as fulfilling our Christian duties. The Bible…..
Sadly, no matter how well intentioned, the current practice of giving “entitlements” to help others, rather than building character based on the Bible’s values, is creating a monster which will self-destruct. As the Bible wisely observes, “Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he becomes a man he will not depart from it.” Conversely, as today’s world continues to demonstrate, separate God from government and education and survival of the strong will lead to…..
Born just prior to WWII, I feel blessed to have experienced both the highs and the lows of our Nation’s development. From America’s greatest generation, who eagerly gave of life and limb that others the world over might experience our freedoms, to the 1960s when self-indulgence replaced God’s values, I watched the demise of the great American experiment in self-government. Sadly, as more humans believed they could vote to have others do the real work and pay the bills,…..
In this day and age of technology it seems “in” to question almost anything and everything. When colleges and universities turn out more and more participants with higher degrees attached to their names, one would anticipate periodic debates and assessments on the role of God and His values in America. While our National Motto acknowledges and appears on the very dollars for which we all strive and by which we measure success, there is no on-going debate over His…..
I cringe every time I hear the misguided interpretation of the separation of church and state. Our founders wanted to insure that every American was free to respond to God and His values as we each felt called. They did not want to ever impose a specific, organized human form of response as advocated by various “churches” – not the Church of England, or the Roman Catholic Church, nor any number of protestant denominations. God and His values set…..
While many of us may still recall childhood dreams of being a great world leader, the reality of the awesome responsibility for guiding and protecting the lives of many brings a return to reality. Sadly, the difficulty of the task only makes the need for effective world leadership that much more critical and important. If we are honest with ourselves, we acknowledge that no “human” can possess all the traits and qualities necessary for effective world leadership. Thus, we…..
As I reflect on my 79 years of life, during which God has richly blessed me and my family, I am drawn to the pure simplicity of it all. Most of us spend huge portions of our years “searching”. While “trial and error” may reveal basic truths, it is a costly, time-consuming process with severe short-comings. Our Creator, God, provided a simple alternative: “Believe and Receive!” While first-hand experience is valuable, it is quite limiting. I believe it is…..
